Funko X Playmobil thoughts?

I just saw some of these, and think it's a great idea. Playmobil makes quality toys with great designs. Guessing Funko is in it just for licensing purposes. Between this and Lego, I don't need to see any other pop culture toys.

The turtles look kinda lame, but Marty McFly and Willy Wonka are incredible. If I had kids I'd be buying them all of these. Guessing they will make a lot more, but I like that they kept the movie choices age appropriate(even though I'd love a playmobil horror line).

I think it's kind of lame to see Lego and Playmobil go into licensed properties full-bore, since their original appeal seemed to be the open world nature of their sets. The figures could be anyone you wanted them to be. But I'm sure licensed stuff has a certain level of guaranteed sales, so it probably makes sense from a business standpoint.

That said, I'm in for the Ghostbusters figures. I want a new Ecto-1 that doesn't cost me a vital organ. And make me some ghosts too.

I am way way more into these than the Pop figures or even the Reaction line. Playmobil and Lego were my main toys as a kid.

I'd kill a kitten if that Tom Baker Dr who came with a K-9

I collect the older horror themed Playmobil figures (Dracula, ghosts, zombie pirates, skeletons, etc.) I've got a whole grip of em. I'd be interested in seeing if they'd do "the Creature" or something in that vein.

I'm with you. I loved lego because it was all about imagination. Especially as a kid because all my lego stuff was second or third hand so it wasn't supposed to be anything specific anyway.

What makes me a little sad though is how kids I actually know associate these new licensed toys with such shit movies. The new Wonka/Ghostbusters/Turtles movies are all just shit. I hope some parents have good enough taste to share the classic films with their children.

I wish these were the same size as regular Playmobil figures cuz my daughter has tons of that stuff.

So actually, this licensed material is really for collectors, and doesn't mesh with Playmobil's other stuff.

I used to pretend that my playmobil toys were gatchman and legos...wow..I loved building things and imagined they were something greater.
That being said...I still think that both Lego and Playmobil are are doing the right thing. Licensed or not..they have both kept their brands alive and I'd rather have my kids play with these and STILL use their imagination rather than sit and play video games for hours on end.
One of my kids builds lego and puts them on a shelf like a model..while the other one will build something so weird and nonsensical and is really proud of it. It's great to see.

These aren't the same size? I didn't know that.
Either way, sign me up for another Bill Murray action figure.

Edit: Oh, they're 200%. That's a little disheartening but they're still pretty cool.

I was so excited that I didn't see that either, thanks for pointing it out.

I agree with your underlying sentiment, but...

I love playmobil! I'm happy they're doing this. I saw a Daryl TWD figure--it'd be great if they did his bike (I collect different playmobil bikes and motorcyles). I'm going to go with TMNT for now when they they drop. I wish they went with the usual sizes, but I'm still going to give them my money.

What other licenses does Playmobil deal in? Only thing I've seen is the hockey stuff.

Can you post those, I'd like to see them. I was thinking Freddy and Jason horror, but classic universal monsters would be awesome while still being kid appropriate.

Purple Bat could I kindly ask you to stop using purple. It's messing with the flow of reading.

im not trying to have a go at you at all. I just think that it's been used in a different way for a while on here..

Yeah, I don't think Playmobil deals in the licensed stuff like LEGO.

Apparently, they are 6" tall. Thanks for the heads-up @Lttr Prssd. What a bummer.

I just went back and looked at the Ghostbuster Playmobil figures and play sets that were revealed last year, and realized that those actually use characters from the 2016 movie. I can't imagine the play sets would be at 200% scale, so we may still get normal size Playmobil GBs (although perhaps not the original cast).

@animator @patrickvaz If we're thinking of the same figures, they're not really Universal Monsters, but more generic vampires, ghosts, etc. A lot of them are Halloween sets, but there are others, like the ghost pirate sets. Here's one of the newer sets still on Amazon:

@animator I can post pics in a day or two, but @akum6n is exactly correct. I was kinda hoping for more precise characters, such as Universal Monsters. But I didn't realize they were 200%. I think that might kill it for me.

Kinda on topic, the Playmobil skeletons are seriously my favorite non-sofubi toy ever.

So I've thought about this a lot and the conclusion I have come to is that I am a puppet. Because funko, playmobil, whoever I will buy those TMNT toys in the first picture.
