It's been a long time since these were discussed. Two standard size sofubi figures, one that looked like a platypus with tusks (Bello Bello), the other was a skeletal bird (Gari Gari). Both were from a TV show called "Machiaki, Maetake, Hajimaruyo" and are supposedly very valuable.

Does anyone have pictures of these, or better yet, the katakana so I can search on it?

Based on what you have written, the first would probably be: ベロベロ

    the second: ガリガリ

Great, thanks! Right now I'm on my home machine that doesn't have the Japanese character set loaded (they display as ????) but when I get back to the office I will try those out.

No luck with the kana so far. Thanks to Jim Maitland for providing a pic of Bello Bello, though:
