Holy crap! Those are secondary market prices, right? That can't be what they retail for...

    retail. straight from blobpus.

Wow. I never collected blobpus, but I thought they use to be about $60 retail. 11,800Y seems outrageous, even if it is gorgeous.

That's pretty ridiculous. Last time I checked, the auctions were actually cheaper.

That Secret one is a beauty.
    But that price...

Yeah that price is a bit up there, I have a feeling that we will see it on the secondary market though.

I also dont think Kaji San has anything to do with these prices, something seems odd. Even the deadstocker HPs where more than what he was selling them for. So I'm assuming that the prices are TK , and not Blobpus's doing.

That is definitely NOT retail. Someone is making serious coin on these. Like Daniel said the auctions were cheaper. I saved a bunch and none of them came close to that price of the mushroom man. On the other hand that secret version is really nice. Spectacular, but not 400 spectacular, even if it is a one off.

    178 + 79 + 99 + 69 = $425 (w/o actual yen conversion).

    Let me add, "Lol."

(I'm sure everyone appreciates the heads-up, btw. Just kind of appalled at TC's pricing.)

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't TC always had a reputation for over-pricing?

Love the "animal" colorway concepts. Brings something fresh to the line. But then, Blobpus paints have always been fascinating.

I think they add 30% to the regular retail price. If they get their items at retail, it's a fair margin. If they get them wholesale, they overprice.

This said, their selection is pretty nice and you may end up saving a lot on shipping instead of ordering from different Japanese stores (if they even ship overseas). They ship and answer emails quickly too...

    nope
they ship directly from Japan, shipping is pricey, sometimes very pricey and products from different japanese manufacturers are shipped separately
    no win

Didn't know they shipped separately... Weird.

correct me if im wrong, i thought of tc as an online shop only - managing sales
for several japanese toymakers without having stock,
no idea whether its toycompanies running it or third party.
so might even be toymakers themselves cashing in.
but then thats what a lot of toycompanies do ever since
by refusing to give wholesale prices to u.s. toyshops on limted stuff.

Refusing to wholesale I can understand if they manage to sell everything direct. But the companies that -do- wholesale mostly seem to do it with almost no discount whatsoever. Don't know if it's because they have a tiny profit margin... Because otherwise, coupled with high shipping cost and minimum orders, it makes no business sense to order from them...

It really isn;t that different then using a company like Celga. You are basically paying toycube to order the figure and get it shipped to you. It is more of an in between service than anything since many of the brands they provide don't sell directly to the US. Why you would ever buy some of the more readily availible things they have I am not sure but they com in handy every now and then.
