Out of curiousity why are these "mockups"? Every prerelease image has been close to spot on.

Maybe because they usually look more handbrushed than sprayed, and that the final versions are sprayed ?
Isn't that because AA is not using airbrushes anymore (of what I think I read) ?

I'm pretty enthusiastic about the yellow DB. I love the eyebrows this way, I hope they'll keep them messy like that.

Exactly - definitely looks like dry brush technique on the samples.

Here's an example of the airbrushed production paint vs. the preorder sample more accurate paint (sorry for the large image - still trying to sort out resizing in the new forum)

I'll reserve final judgment until I have it in hand, but for now: UGH. The sprayed stripes look pretty damn terrible compared to the brushed ones... :?

I'm with you on this one, those aren't stripes anymore... They're bars.
I guess I'm glad I wasn't interested in the Nue, but now I'm a little worried.

The striping on the nue seems to me more of a masking problem. The drybrushing on some of the mockups like guerilla punch and the pixies was replaced by an in my opinion at least better looking spray application.
There has consistently been large differences between the shown mockups and the final products.

Thanks for the pic, that doesn't look as bad. Still would have much preferred brushed or masked stripes; considering the Nue's initial preview and the effort that went into the releases so far (especially the clear Goga) this is the first of the Medicom releases that's indeed slightly disappointing imo...

Got it. This sort of reminds me of the Cobalt drill arms guy. The first few versions the arms are painted really well on the drills but the medicom version looks messy.

Exactly, the cobalt mock up looks a bit messy but will probably (hopefully) improve with the different painting process in production...
On the nue it was the other way round though...

I think the milky and black one are still the best looking Drunk Boys.

I think I prefer the more subtle eyebrows. These are the orig releases, to avoid confusion.

Red and green are amazing but my all time favorite db version is the blue mainly because of the eyes.

From what I understand this is a limited edition only available in the new medicom plus store in Tokyo...

Wow, that is amazing and it does match the mini. that exclusively aspect is a bit frustrating given all previous releases... oh well.

It's a near replica of an AA custom that I had on my want list for many many years. I wonder how limited and how much? I need need this!

In store price is 25k yen, current M price 41k... As for how exclusive the sofvi article does not tell...

I think this too. I am a sucker for white vinyl bases, which you don't get to see too much. The bright colours really work, he is candyriffic! Limited release seems like a midground between AA exclusivity and the Medicom orders, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out number-wise.
