This was the first resin piece in my collection, acquired several years ago. It is Potator, hand-made and painted by Cam De Leon. Cam did the art for a number of the Tool album covers, among a lot of other things... His website (worth a visit) is http://www.happypencil.com/. I like Potator because he is so well made (great sculpt and iridescent shade-shifting paint) and because he is so STRANGE, friendly yet threatening and enigmatic. What is going on with his eyes? And "beak"? Why doesn't he have any arms? What's with the weird robinhood boots? Why does he have a pajama-like buttoned rear trap door? He is about 5 inches tall. Limited to 50 pieces, made to order, and sold out long ago. I do not currently have a good shot of him either, but here is a stock photo:
Great piece George. I vaguely remember seeing this but never saw one for sale. Thanks for the pictures, it looks like a very interesting sculpt.
I remember seeing Potator at a shop in Portland that sells "art toys" and digging it, but I never looked up the artist or anything. Cam De Leon has incredible range as an artist looking at his site. His "creepy" Tool stuff is not my favorite though. It's too bad he doesn't have more focus on the sculpting as Potator is more interesting and well made than a lot of resin pieces I see.
Wow, what a interesting piece. Thanks for telling us about it. I now have another toy on my wanted-list. Hehehe.
