Just curious, as I scan the 40+ pages on one particular term on one auction site....how regularly do some of you search for specific toys? Is it a daily routine? Is it like part of your schedule....wake up, search, then shower? I could say more but lets leave it @ that..
Daily routine. It's my favorite chore when I get home from work. Open the favorites list, click open all in tabs, and scan every page of every store and every page of every YJA auction. I have all my favorite searches (by company) bookmarked for YJA, so it makes it super easy. I'm usually crossing my fingers that I don't find something I can't live without. Until Friday. Money is the root of all evil, so I feel it's my duty to get rid of it as quickly as possible.
Exactly that- pour the cereal, pour the juice, then work my way thru about fourteen pages of Garamon and about six of Pigmon....
I check the for sale section maybe twice a day here, toy sites daily, and ebay a couple times. Its part of my ritual of checking email, news and weather online...
oh my god you guys are blowing my mind! this click one bookmark and start scrolling seems for the birds!
I scan at least twice a day on YJA, then do the rounds to known websites maybe every other day. I have all my terms ready on YJA so it's not that hard. Usually by the time I'm ready for my 2nd cup of joe I'm done. Like Paulie I often hope I won't see something I must have. Luckily I get paid every Wednesday by 6am (direct deposit) so the wheels start turning on how much I'm going to ante up for Celga auctions and how much will be leftover to live off of that week (usually not much). It's worked because I haven't found much I want lately. I keep saying since it's been so dry (and I'm sure everyone has seen my impossible want list) that unless something great I really want pops up this will be my last haul (in two weeks it should be here) for awhile. I want a new camera, want to travel etc...... Chris
Maybe an average of 2-3 hours a day, total. In the morning, maybe an hour to scan shops on-line, ebay, sb. Lunch time onwards, i stay on-line for ebay auctions i am interested--if none at the moment, browse thru sites until i work. During night time, its a little unpredictable...after dinner, until before i sleep before or after midnight to the wee hours of the morning (time zone), im on-line. Its ALWAYS "searching for toys" on the net.
it actually gets strange the older you get esp. when hunting vintage stuffs. although collecting "new" stuff is frustrating at times, it is out there. for a price. I collect a vintage line called -Star Raiders- from the 1970s and it has taken me over 20 years to collect 15 of the 16 figures. the twist is even on "you can find it on eBay" you can't! Its so weird you can find objects that are 100s of years old on there but a few of these cheap plastic peoples from 1978-1979 are nowhere to be found at any price! I need a time machine. Best wishes to all who obsessively collect new and old alike, don't get bummed out!!! "The seeker is the finder." -an ancient middle eastern proverb
i almost quit hunting for toys when about a year ago... every auction was being bid on already by "locomoco"
If I'm actively after something I do the whole routine. YJA, eBay, here all day, every friggin site I know (US, JP and other) but if I'm not freaking for something, I just check the basics. I'm here all the time so I got it covered, when I wake up at 5-6am I check KT and YJA and eBay. But if I miss checking no big deal. It's more out of OCD than anything, so it's more of a habit than a hunt. But yeah, if I'm not going nuts for something, I'm way less into it than usual.
I'm always searching. I work in an editing bay with several computers around me and I'm all by myself.
S7,ebay sometimes and board members..Never have fooled with yjp..I guess I'm just to damn stupid to figure it out and thats a good thing I guess...I don't know shit about celga and don't want to,I like being able to pay off my credit card monthly.
Design studio, same deal! . . . always on on the background, but I still manage to miss most of the good shit!
