I suppose that this has been a long time coming:

This is Castilene cast from a plastic Sugar Skull mold. I have since started experimenting with hot sculpting to bring out the details and correct some issues. I used 91% Isopropyl alcohol in my spirit lamp, which I am guessing is the reason that my tools got so blackened.

Now my wax skull has some soot all over it. Can anyone offer some tips? Is it possible to polish off the soot? Would Ethyl alcohol work better? (I haven't been able to get proper denatured alcohol yet.)

I would appreciate any advice, but I also want to invoke @Robert DeCastro for his inspiration for taking the sculpting plunge.

Never tried hot sculpting as I almost always ended up burning whatever it was that I was working on, but rad that you have the balls to work with castilene! That stuff's tough to work with. Lookin' good, mate. Keep it goin.

Thank you, but I feel that I should point out that the casting pictured has not been altered yet, so it is completely someone else's design at this stage.
I figured that it's a good place to start since I am trying to make a very belated Valentine's Day gift for someone. It's basically going to end up being a curio or paperweight.
