From 'Lion Maru'. My first BM sculpt with a separate weapon . . . i love this guy, he has tons of character! This really caught my attention, I'm loving all the texture. Are there any other BM Lion Maru sculpts?
Yep, the crazy textures are what i love the most about BM To be honest, i have no idea if they have done any other Lion Maru enemies . . . i bought this one kind of randomly. There is an unpainted version and a yellow colorway. The unpainted was on Mandarake a while ago. Here's a blurry pic of the yellow version:
That Debonaba got my attention as well, I've been trying to locate information on it but unfortunately found very little, the character is listed here with a small photo: http://z3.invisionfree.com/DTBlack/ar/t860.htm 'Big in Japan' has good photos of that sofubi yellow vinyl release: http://www.biginjap.com/vinyl-toys/2441 ... igure.html Anyone have more info, links etc...?
It was interesting that I could not find any other episode references, or photos of the sculpt besides Moog's & plastichunter's. This stuff is often very obscure. Your right! Its pretty much all there.
Ah okay, well as far as I know Debonoba was actually in several episodes of Lion Maru, starting with an appearance in Ep. 8. He was actually voiced by a few different actors. Here is another colour pic of him in his suit (not great res I am afraid), and one of the cool cutaway kaiju graphics. As for the toy, I am not sure about the yellow, which was a Medicom exclusive I believe, but I know Bearmodel also released the green version in an unpainted figure.
Yeah, i found most of that when i googled the kanji . . . thanks for the extra detective work. The fact he is called alter-ego is a bit confusing too. Who's alter-ego is he? Here's a few extra pics i took . . . i dont think my light-box shows-off darker figures that well. Finally got my greedy mitts on these recent Mandarake exclusives . . . . painted by Leo Sofvi Bouya. I'm pretty sure these are brand-new sculpts. They are mid-size. From Ultraman Taro. Excellent figures man. Glad you were able to score them. I had to pass on these for lack of funds, but boy, there are great fun. Taro has got some of the funkiest kaiju characters, and Bearmodel is a perfect match to seem them realised as toys.
Those are totally far out fun!! So much better looking here than in the original photos. Nice score for sure.
They certainly are magical from another dimension I found Leos twitter https://twitter.com/Leo_sofvi_bouya
Its been too long since i scored some lovely BM. I remedied that recently with Gigan . . . . or as i like to call him - Turbo Chicken. More pics: Spoiler
That is a really nice Gigan, great score! I like the extra textures in the arms and legs. And the 'folding' really captures that great rubber suit character. All around a very quality sculpt.
Ha, he Really does pull off the "turbo chicken" look best out of most Gigan sculpts out there. I can totally see him tearing up the countryside in a Chicken Run sequel Great figure, Moog
^^ Thanks peeps, its certainly a toy i underestimated until i got it in-hand . . . . and here's another one that landed this week. I was beginning to think I'd never score a BM Bullton, but then up popped this un-bagged beauty. Its got a few paint rubs but i dont care. It still looks great. I'm starting to really enjoy bulky non-humanoid figures recently . . . . more pics: Spoiler
Moog, total score! I have the white unpaitned bulleton that came out in an early oughts luckybag. Its a fantastic sculpt if something of a sofubi white elephant. However I love it dearly who knew a rock could have such charm nice one!
^^ Cheers mate . . . . and yeah, i remember seeing that unpainted white version in your collection photos. Its certainly an eye-catching 'what the f__k is that thing?' kind of toy
I've been searching for this blinged-up bad-bwoy, for a fair price, for quite a while . . . . . . finally scored him! Very happy
Congratulations The Moog great score! I love this Diamond Eyes It's one of my favorites Bear Model Figures, thanks for sharing this great picture I had only seen small pictures of him but now I could appreciate better, by the way the header card art is amazing.
^^ Thanks mate. Here's a bunch of the BM info sheet illustrations i've compiled for fun . . . . and this double-post
