@Bob I got mine at 12:44 a.m. tonight. The initial e - mail did say “it takes time to prepare”, so maybe the invoices are trickling? I’m sure you’ll see one soon!
You should get a money request. I'd double-check in PayPal as sometimes I don't get emails for money requests. Edit--whoops, always read new posts before replying
So, can someone tell me how these were released? I’ve been trying to keep my eyes peeled, but it sounds like I missed it
They emailed everyone a few days ago who had entered more than half of their lotteries so far (so I think that means at least 4) and offered the blue mini with a random tower.
With @zindabad reminding me that there was a possibility of getting two different towers, I’m really glad the pink tower is what arrived with my blue Mini Godesu! And the box arrived on the afternoon of my birthday, which made it all the more awesome. I’m also really glad this one came with another coloring book ‘cause I still don’t have the heart to open the one that came with my Gigara! Spoiler
@kid_miracleman Dennis brought it with him to DCon. It was the only tower left when I walked up and the only glitter tower he’s made(to my knowledge)!
I pulled the orange tower. Does anyone have more info on the tower itself, it seems to be the same tower that was included with the recent M1 Minya/tower set, which was cast in a Tiffany blue. Interesting to see it in use across different brands and licensed/non-licensed products. Maybe it just circulates among a group of friends?
I think that might be the case. The ones that were brought to DCon with Dennis were definitely pulled by him. And those very same molds are used for Trash Goodz, and obviously Spectrum Lab.
The M1 tower is slightly different, barely. The middle painted section tapers a bit on it, the overall sculpt is carved a bit deeper, and it's slightly thinner all over. I'll take some side by side pictures.
A quick photo of the tower that came with my M1 Kemur tricycle, for reference: Based on Robert's photos and David (@animator ) description, I'd say David is spot on - slightly more depth of sculpt on the details and thinner overall, specifically on the legs.
Looking at the sculptural details, the 2 look too similar to think there were 2 unique sculpts and both designers executed nearly identical version. Small differences like this could be do to many things. A multi-mold that was made with unique wax casts or with very soft vinyl pulls from a master mold. But most likely, multiple molds in use, likely created again from very soft vinyl pulls from the original mold, which would decrease the scale and probably remove some depth of detail. Lastly but unlikely, just differences in technique from those pulling, they can be achieving different thicknesses of vinyl and slightly stretching the vinyl while it is pulled out.
Here is a side by side. The pink is from Spectrum Lab, the blue is M1. Th main differences are the slight size difference, the thinner legs, the deeper carving, and the tapering of the middle platform on the blue M1 version. Otherwise they're identical. I could see what Joe said above and the differences coming from different wax casts/molds/etc. The Spectrum Lab and Shirahama versions are identical.
Interesting, it's hard to see the detail in the pink, but the sculpting on the legs seems to be much different. Maybe you were right, they could be 2 different, but similar sculpts. The mysteries of sofubi...
They are, in fact, one in the same! This was really interesting to see the Shirahama/Spectrum Lab tower next to the M1 tower. From the description you initially gave I didn’t think the differences would be so stark!
When comparing these to original vintage towers, the m1 seems like a scaled down version of the original (recast) while the shirahama/SL seems like an entirely different sculpt.
Hopin’ to see some Ghostron Godesu action from collectors here. He’s labeled this as “Magnet Ghostron,” so I’m wondering if he’ll have the magnet in the hand and tin car, like the Bullmark Ghostron with the MAT car, as indicated in the photo. The price was slightly increased, so I’d like to think so. I also really like how he went pachi style with his own character design and artwork for the headers.
