@super77m At least you knew where it was going, though that’s not much of a consolation. My tracking has just said it’ll update me when updates come for four days.

I'm signed up to get both texts and emails when a package with tracking gets delivered. Got the messages "Priority Package delivered in/at Mailbox 2:01pm", went outside at 2:02pm and there's nothing in my mailbox, front step or within 20 feet of my house. I can see up/down my street for 2 blocks and there's no USPS mail truck, even drove around the hood and no mail carrier to be seen. And USPS is closed today until Tuesday (Monday holiday). FUCK

So many gripes to catch up on.

Copying this over from the FU thread:
My last four packages from Royal Mail have been 'delivered' to my house, i.e. leaving the delivery note only, when I could have actually received them. This is just SO frustrating. At least make some sort of attempt for FFS. I am not asking for anything more than normal, expected service here. Because I cannot make it to the post office at all during the week (don't even get me started on a rant for their ridiculous hours here), if I get the delivery slip only I have to go on a Saturday, which I did yesterday, and had to stand in line - outside and in the rain mind - for forty minutes while the queue crawled along at a snail's pace (because, you know, it isn't like parcel delivery picks up in December or anything, and you wouldn't want to possibly have two people working; never mind that I would not be surprised if a good portion of those people were also there due to 'missed but not really' deliveries).

    In short, aaarrghh. :x

Same situation on my end @ultrakaiju; my post office in Brooklyn is useless. Currently waiting on three items that were meant to be delivered before the weekend, and for one of them they haven't even bothered to push the delivery date to next week online.

So USPS says my enamel pins are in Allen Park which isn't to terribly far away from me but the problem is that the items have been stuck in that location for over 4 days now and initially they were supposed to be to my house by Thursday. So here is hoping I at least get my package by Monday? :?

Thumbs down to unfortunate toy packaging and/or handling that leads to damage. These are things which, as neither a painted nor vinyl repairer, etc., will be forever 'lost'. I don't treat my toys like museum pieces or anything, nor do I have the bank to invest in crazy hype stuff, but that doesn't also mean it is frustrating when something beautiful is slightly diminished merely due to unfortunate circumstance.

It's all material though, and nothing lasts forever. I certainly won't be taking it with me.

On April 13 a package shipped from @Paulkaiju studio in San Diego CA addressed to me in central Texas. Normal USPS turnaround is 3-4 days.
The box went from San Diego to Los Angeles no problem, intended to get on a transport flight to Texas. But for some unknown reason it took a left turn, ending up in Barrigada...A VILLAGE ON THE ISLAND OF GUAM about 12,000 miles away from my house. I have no idea why this happened. Did someone at USPS actually read "Texas" as "Guam"?
The box sat in Guam for a few days then took another trip to Honolulu Hawaii for the weekend, eventually making its way back onto U.S. soil. Fast forward a few weeks to today when the box arrived on my doorstep. Even though it was "signature required" the postman left it on the doorstep and quckly trotted away, probably because he saw the tragic condition of the box:

Fortunately the piece inside did arrive intact and unblemished. Paul Kaiju's vinyl is pretty indestructible, even when unexpectedly sojourning halfway around the world. Perhaps the extra padding from the enclosed bar of Rice Krispie Treats helped this little Chibibat survive his trip.

^^^ @debparis1 I thought the package I sent to Hong Kong stopping off for a week in Beijing was unusual . . . but SD-TX via Guam and Hawaii wins hands down!

I have never, in my 10 year history in this business, seen a package so misfired and so fucked up by the time it got to where it was intended to go.

Wow @debparis, I think that is just about one of the oddest shipping stories to yet get posted on Skullbrain. No idea why this happened, or what their possible excuse could be, but really, I am just happy to see that you were very patient with it, and at the end of day, after much adventure and danger, this great parcel from Paul made it to you, and unhurt by its experience. One for the ages, and I am glad it had a happy outcome. Kudos to the toy gods for watching over this little fella and ensuring him a safe - if interesting - journey, to a very deserving home. [also good he had some snacking material to keep him sustained on this global detour!]

    Amazon shite ...

I'm staggered that even after all this time, Amazon fail to package a hardback book properly. They either use ridiculously over-sized packaging or they send it in flimsy crap. This has happened loads of times to me but it's been a while since i ordered a hardback from them, so i kinda forgot ...

I did think in the back of my mind, bet this one is damaged that would be typical ... and guess what, the book was bashed-in and split on the top corners. It really is incompetence, or they just don't give a shit - or both!

I am truly amazed that companies like Amazon, Book Depository, and the like seem to have such profound difficulty in grasping how books/CDs/etc. can be damages in transit, and that just a little bit of extra effort to show some common sense could prevent it. Especially with a company like Amazon, who is so readily going to be hand to offer a refund or replacement, I cannot understand how they think this is better for their bottom line then using the inappropriate packaging. Sorry Moog. Hope you can sort it without difficulty, but I know that you should not have to.

I am guessing a little from column A and a little from column B.

when a company doesn't even give a shit about people taking toilet breaks, you can imagine the extent to which they care about packaging.

I was going to order Matt Alt's bookon Amazon as it was £5 cheaper than the retail price by my gf told me it would be better to buy it at WaterStone.
Got it 2 days later in perfect condition.
Bookstores definitely know how to handle a book !

Let me tell you about Amazon. FUCK AMAZON!
Initially I liked that they appeared to be taking down Walmart - a company I viewed as one of the most abhorrent widely-used companies in the country. But Amazon just became the new Walmart - Bezos replacing the Waltons. Fuck 'em all. I'll gladly pay a few more bucks to buy from an independent shop than support any of those shitfucks.

And the conspiracy theorist in me says that Trump is taking down the USPS so that Bezos* can swoop in as the next national delivery service. They've built out their delivery infrastructure over the past several years, and are just waiting for the full-fledged takeover.
*Not that Trump is specifically doing this for Bezos, just that Bezos is poised to be the one to benefit.

Same here. This is why, despite the minor price difference, I will never shop the bottom line for cost alone - there are all the hidden costs you cannot even account for. I don't care how 'hippie' it sounds, support local and independent whenever you can. I believe in it, and do so as much as is possible. There is also a clear reason the Amazons/Walmarts/etc. of the world are able to sell the cheapest amount that they can, and when you think about it for even a second, it is not a pleasant thought. Plus - and I mean, I recognise in person shopping options are limited [and very different] for people nowadays - but you cannot even compare the experience, interaction, and knowledge of a shop, with those other places; it is not even on a scale you could relate one with the other.

Trump is taking down USPS because he knows it will help him win the election at this point. Hopefully the houses will come back and decide to fix it, really doubt it. Extreme measure time.

The whole USPS thing is quite shocking seen from Europe...
I mean, in France, people would be protesting in the streets for something like that...
And also being at the present time in the UK, I'm also very shocked by BoJo's government... I've rarely seen such a band of incompetent people... They just don't give a fuck, they blame everything on someone else and it's all okay for the British people...
I need to find some tires to set up a barricade...
