Matchbox made some really good car's! Now they are owned by Hot Wheels & Mattel if I'm not mistaken? Has the quality changed though for good or bad? Haven't paid attention to much

The styling is different than before, but the quality is great. I do miss the “fantasy” cars they used to put out (like these), but now that’s Hotwheels’ thing. Matchbox just does stock vehicles, which I also like. The wheels on all their vehicles are way nicer than HW. They’re textured on the outer rims, which gives them a whirring sound when they go down the track.

Speaking about toys Wal-Mart's is again getting an exclusive wave of GI Joe retro three & three quarter figures along with some vehicles. Keep an eye out! I know I sure am when I can.

Yeah man, I used to love mine, i always pointed him downhill for that extra oomph!

I kinda preferred my Pink Panther car with the ripstrip, though. Evel would wobble and fall over eventually, but the think-pink machine would keep on truckin' ... :D

    Great buy!

Wow. Can't say I need more than the bendy and the bike, but that's pretty cool!

Haven't tried it yet! I'll holler when I do :) I had a few minutes during some good light so took the snaps.
Kinda want to break it in when there's fairer weather and my little boy and I can hang out outside without melting!

Amazing Rei!! That looks like such good fun! @toothaction You've added this to your birthday/Christmas/Hanukkah wish list yet? :)
Actually, that is just along the lines of what I was thinking, Evel Knievel ™ official hospital recouperation set, with 'realistic action' mobile elevation bed, traction harness, and IV/tube feeding stand.

A dear friend gave me his small childhood collection of about 50 cars. One of my favorite things about these jewels is knowing where they got their wear from. I even like the dirt on them, probably from some old New Jersey sandbox somewhere, long ago...

I've been on a Star Trek kick lately so I treated myself to a Playmates Defiant:

Which led me to track down a Franklin Mint Defiant:

    This thing is ridiculous:

Interesting Roger. I am not sure what 'era' that is from, but I got to say, I really respect and appreciate what Playmates did with the Star Trek license in the 90s. When so many toy lines were faltering, chasing the latest thing, sinking to the lowest common gimmick to get kids' attention, and in general toys/action figure lines seemed to be having a hard go of it, they pursued stuff that was creative, risky, but above all else.... fun. I think there was so much there for both young fans/kids to enjoy, as well as the adults. Making stuff that crossed both those demographics - and did so effectively - was really great, and something 'modern' toylines have really missed the mark on (I think). It wasn't that long ago, but I see this as sort of a last great line, and coming from Playmates, a relatively small name/player in the field, I am thrilled with what they were able to accomplish. So yeah, good amount of smiles and nostalgia around that, and thanks for bringing it up with this share.

Rei, that is another one I really just want to cruise around in, in real life. And I am not even tall. ;)
