^^^Indeed! What did you get yourself into?! :D Congrats on your first buta toy! Be careful, they are addictive ;)

Tomorrow marks the second anniversary of our dearest Chris's passing. I miss him unbelievably, and I sincerely think of him whenever I visit the forums, as well as when I'm away. I'll treasure the help, advice, and words he shared with me. To his family if you are reading this, we all know that Chris passed way before his time, he is a blessing and he brought happiness to us. We hope you are well and thank you for maintaining his photo collection to keep our databases going. Chris left us many gifts here on SB, and it is nice to be able to see the databases he began for us, his immense and fabulous toy collection, his witty and grumpy posts, and all of his help and tidbits of wisdom. He's memorialized in many peoples' hearts, near, far, and all around the globe. A truly giving, funny, sharing, caring, and sometimes grumpy (his grumpiest moments were his funniest ) soul. We miss you Chris!

I did make a promise to him, to unbag all of my Butas. Pretty much all of the butas are unbagged (except for the new stuff waiting to be put in shelves), and Chris is right! They are much better set free to be played with. Thank you Chris, I miss you, but you'll always be in my heart and mind :)

    The reveal....

and there is still one box of missing butas still missing...

The dinos are still in the small case, but the other figures were moved into a larger case...

    @Mr. Humphreys
Amazing collection Grace. Glad to see them all unbagged finally.
Gotta say though... why not let those (extremely rare) dupes go to some of the collectors that have probably been after them for over 10 years?

It's hard to let go of them when the adoption fees were at a super premium on the after market...
Not to mention a lot of blood, sweat, and tears hunting for them -- a LOT of time spent :|

A lot of time spent hunting dupes? Obviously you are free to collect however you want. Just curious why.

I don’t think any of us, those that have been collecting buta for a decade+ would be at all upset about paying a premium for our grails. We all know how much they go for and no one is looking for a hook up.

and there is no doubt you have an incredible collection, even without the dupes ;)

Sorry for not being clear . I had my entire toy collection in storage while I was adopting. Moved once, then reboxed everything again for a top to bottom house remodel, then some very stressful personal issues prevented me from unpacking the house for 5 years, and then finally we were burglarized last year (60% of the house is still not unpacked). Had to go by notes to remember which ones I had. I didn't buy toy cases until 2018 (I think), but they have finally been assembled late last year--toys were not unpacked yet. I wanted to continue to collect the toys to prevent missing out on the new issues, or adopted the older figures when they became available, because I didn't have them -- adoptions were stored and consolidated in shipping boxers as they came in, until I could buy cases, and a small assemblage was at the office. As for the older stuff, the dupes you see were because I bought a second dupe years later, as I either didn't record the first adoption or just forgot. When the butas were unpacked, that was when I discovered the dupes. I can honestly sympathize with those who are still searching for the "rarer" butas. But it hasn't been easy for me to assemble the collection that I have, and during the tough times, the toys kept me going, so there is some emotional attachment to them. I realize that it would draw some criticism to see the dupes, but I decided to post what I had (it would just have been as easy to omit them from the photo). I apologize if it sounds immature, but I'm not ready to let go of them yet.

p.s. I did warn a friend of mine that when I "pass over the rainbow bridge", not to take the toys to Salvation Army or dump them in the bin. He has some inkling of their value, and he actually likes them :). Still need to put a will together, but I hope to have the toys redistributed to SB when I'm gone. He'll just need instructions on how to post, but he will be absolutely clueless for prices. I would like the funds to go to a few designated charities at some point :).

I think some of you are being a bit rude in questioning why she owns dupes or suggesting that they should be passed on to other Board members. You collect what you collect, and frankly, if you want those figures so badly, go out and look for them yourselves versus shaming someone into selling them. For the record, I don't think it's odd at all to end up with a few dupes if you've been collecting for 12+ years with a lot of stuff in storage... I can definitely relate to that story, anyhow.

Agreed. Keep your dupes. Especially after being hounded to unload them. The only thing better than having a rare toy that you love is having 2 of them. Beautiful collection btw.

^^^The database definitely needs updating, and continues to be a valuable resource that Chris left for us. The question is, how to update it, since the actual first page list is registered to Chris's account?

Finally found my missing box of toys! :D
Thought I'd lost these forever, old school Paul Kaiju custom Buta dinos! Note the screen-type pattern (how'd he do that!) back in the day....

Purakeriasu (greenie guy) and Corythosaurus (light blue guy)

*Note that the Corythosaurus was a custom using the flesh paint dino -- it has that characteristic squishy soft vinyl feel.

Super stuff, Grace. I am thrilled that you uncovered some of your 'lost' boxes. I imagine it is like years' worth of Christmases and birthdays all rolled up into one, rediscovering all that treasure. :)

Thank you @D-.No and Stevie! I thought they'd be lost forever, so I'm very relieved they finally appeared. I think it's the last two boxes, plus that giant mystery box of GID, to round out my toy collection. Not sure what to do with the toys that have become outliers. I'll definitely save some nice ones for the Suicide Prevention Christmas raffle
