Dig a little deeper duders. All the early Saint Vitus releases came out on SST. That pretty much sums shit up.
Very true, also a big fan of Saint Vitus. I only have the Wino era though. Is the other stuff worth a listen?
So I like all sorts of jammies, but have always loved a nice, slow, crunchy thrum. Where I get picky is vocals: any instrumental recommendations for an Earth/Sleep/Sunn/Thrones etc fan? Thanks in advance, doom peoples.
Yes, I think so. Reagers is more Dio-esque in his style imo. Wino is darker. A lot of people forget Wino joined later. Two different vocalists obviously, but both compliment the sludgy darkness that is Vitus. There's a cool video of pre-Wino Vitus performing as openers for Flag in Canada. All long hair, greased out, all wearing Flag t-shirts, playing doom. F*cking awesome! @toothaction it's such a large pool now David. It's funny how many ex-straight edge, hardcore, post metal bands have jumped on the doom/stoner/sludge bandwagon (excuse pun)... A very underrated band that I enjoy is Bunkur from the Netherlands. I believe they have a couple of releases on Displeased. Tinty as opposed to bass-laden, but lumbering doom with more black metal vox. Give em' a listen. Would be curious to read your thoughts.
I'll be sure to type out some reaction prose once my ears have had the pleasure. Thanks! Anyone else want to help feed me?
I’ve been really getting into some bands from out west. Troll and Sacri Monti have been on heavy rotation as of late. Troll being more along the lines of pallbearer super heavy riffs with daunting vocals. ( this band recently lost the vocalist right after recording the new album out in a couple months. It’s to bad because I really was into the over all sound but will check out the bands new sound as well) and Sacri sounding a bit more blues driven stoner! If you love the song stranglehold by Ted Nugent then you will love this album. Also would like to point out that I managed to grab tickets for SLEEP in Boston July 28th my birthday weekend! So FN pumped sleep puts on one of the best live shows I have ever seen and I have seen them 4 times in the last three years and can’t get enough!
Anyone check out the new Bongripper yet?! It's fuckin great. Album of the year for me so far. https://bongripper.bandcamp.com/album/terminal
I've been slacking on seeing them cause they tour so much. Luckily I'll be able to catch them at Psycho. Speaking of which, anyone going to Psycho this summer?
Been listening to Big|Brave's newest album a lot lately. The last song is great - love the sparse, repetitive crush. Not sure about the video, but the song is great:
https://loweryourhead.bandcamp.com/album/hell-live-at-roadburn-2018 really great sound on this. makes me want to see them again pretty badly. edit: fuck just saw that they'll be at Vitus this month, on a monday... 4 hr round trip for me..might have to go anyway
