The thing is, the Kaiju Prince line has exploded on the flipper market due to popularity. Mandarake is selling the sets for ¥20000-¥25000 and some of the individuals go for sometimes over ¥10000. It's nuts. The last show he attended a bunch of his figures showed up the next day on Yahoo Japan, so he's stated he's going to only concentrate on online sales from now on. I can see where he's coming from. I think only now his method is potentially getting newer buyers less of a chance because there are so many new lottery requests. I probably enter 8-10 out of every 12 monthly lotteries but have lost sometimes as well.

Edit: ugh the latest KP set is ALREADY on Yahoo Japan for ¥18500 and they haven't even shipped yet.

This is why we can't have nice things

My partner James asked Elegab to join our show last year, and everything sold out at the show of his. I think the only artists that did that were Elegab, Shirahama, Skinner and JMRampage (memory is fuzzy). I can testify they all went to nice homes, including I'm pretty sure a board member or two. I never heard of him before that.

Anyway, now that I personally started collecting him as a result, this happens and he couldn't participate in our show.

Unfortunatly this can probably all be related back to Nari-sama getting his IG account. The publicity that platform brings can be a well needed push of sales, as much as it can cut you in the back when hype builds. To think that he even had months when the toys didn’t sell out back in the days. That’s a time well past (based on what showed up in his internetshop when occasionally opened). Wonder if or how long this hype will last.

The fact that I'm a 10% helps explain my (un)luck. Personally I think it's a great system, makes a lot of sense and seems fair. Here's to hoping I can make it to the 40%!

I was fortunate enough to score both. His toys really remind me of something I would have been playing with if I was a kid growing up in Japan in the 80s

I do wonder though if his larger toys are less popular due to space constraints in Asian countries

Did anyone score the latest Kaiju Prince set? No luck for me again. This was the sixth Elegab lottery running I’ve lost. Nari-San’s work is certainly in high demand!

Oh damn! Thats a lot of Ls
He mentioned having 1000 applicants for Kaiju Prince sets, which he thought was not the true number of collector.

I got this sculpt in green, so did not personally enter this time.

From Elegab blog about the above sales. I wish other companies provided these type of inside details. It's interesting.

    June lottery sales schedule (2019)

    Schedule
June 12 lottery result announcement (we inform by email)
    June 17 Payment Deadline
June 19 Payment confirmation completed (E-mail transmission completed)
    (4 unpaid persons, re-lotted)
    July 20-July 29 Shipping work

    Expected Product Arrival Date
    Japan Japan July 21-July 30
    Outside Japan July 25-August 3

    that's all.
    Thank you.
    info
This time 120 people were elected.
Of them, 50 were the first winners
    .
As the number of applicants has increased considerably, this number has been increased as a special measure.

The market may be rough, such as temporary, resale, unpaid, etc.
    Thank you for your attention.

Agree 100%. Elegab is really hitting this great balance across the board of accessibility to new and old fans. The transparency is great too. Admittedly, the run sizes are pretty huge all things considered, which is keeping the aftermarket at bay (anyone complaining about a Kaiju Prince set going on Mandarake for 2x doesn't realize how easy the Elegab after market is compared to a lot of other makers).

His lotto system is fantastic: preferential treatment to reliable fans that pay on-time consistently but not so preferential its become a good ol' boys club.

Yeah I have to say I'm lucky because the majority of my Elegab figures have been via private sales or aftermarket. Most of them have been pretty reasonable, but it seems now they are starting to go up. Being that Nari's figures are some of my absolute favorites I'm incredibly fortunate.

I don’t know that this is the right thread to ask this but I didn’t know where else to post. For those of you who own a Namira would it fit in a Priority Mail International Medium flat rate box with USPS? I’m in Australia and have no idea of the size of the box or toy so any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

You are shipping sofubi from USA to Australia?

Use First Class (up to 3 lbs internationally), or Priority otherwise. I think up to 2lbs is $24, up to 3 is $35, but this can be confirmed on the USPS page. In a worst case scenario, first class will take an extra 1-2 days to leave the country... but once it is received internationally, the international post offices will not distinguish between priority and first class. Some of them barely distinguish between EMS and first class.

But I can't recommend the flat rate boxes for sofubi. Because flat rate boxes are generally higher priced because they expect a higher weight. Why did you get the idea to use flat rate box? Are you sure it's really cheaper in this case?

The guy I was dealing with was clueless about shipping overseas. I just suggested the flat rate box instead of mucking around with the post office and quotes. After not shipping the toy for weeks and weeks and me hassling him, he eventually ended up telling me that the post office wanted more than the $82.20 I sent him for shipping so he had to send it to me by normal post. I thought this sounded like bullshit so just wanted confirmation from people on here who might know about US shipping before I put this guy on blast.

Confirmation from multiple people? Just go to usps.com and confirm it yourself, problem solved.

Whoops, it's been a bit! The most recent offerings (lottery closed) is a soft violet base METEORG with what Nari calls a tribute to 1970s color sprays!

[IMG]Elegab Aug 2019 by Doug Hardy, on Flickr

Also there are the flesh base KAIJIN SEIJIN brothers!

[IMG]Elegab Aug 2019 by Doug Hardy, on Flickr

These are a good set if you ask me. Meteorg really has a great color way this time around. I've always loved it's mid-70s Tokusatsu suit feel it has. I was lucky enough to win the lottery on him this time.

To the Elegab-informed: would you be able to shed any light on the circumstances of the release of this Hyouga King one-off?

    [IMG] [IMG]

The date and tag places it at Super Festival 69, which was right after the figure debuted. I don't remember hearing anything about one-offs from that show, however.
