^^^ Once in a blue moon, when I happen to be on the beach, I'll stumble across a vast shoreline covered with thousands of pelagic red crabs. It's quite mysterious and mystical when it happens. Finally found a video that shows some of them (lots of fun things on the Brave Wilderness channel ) Silliness... If you happen to stumble upon a pyrosome (colony) whilst diving, it's also a bizarre and unreal encounter Read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pyrosome Watch
An answer to the question, 'What does Batman do in a snow storm?', same as everyone else it seems, he shovels. Except in this case to the rescue of his fellow Montrealers, with bat-coffee in hand to share. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1144198779025888 full story
Congrats to Taiwan for ruling laws again same sex marriage violate their personal freedom. I dont care who you are, but we should all have the right to love whoever we want. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-...ame-sex-marriage-is-legal-in-a-first-for-asia
Sometimes I just don't have much hope for humanity. This, the Manchester bombing, and the Portland train stabbing have really got me down lately. So much intolerance and hate from every walk of life. In other news though, yesterday I discovered that the common green tree frog that Petsmart sells for $15 is native to Delaware. Who KNEW? Not going to take one from its natural habitat of course, but I did take some photos and one decided to jump and cling to my face. Not really international news or anything, just interesting.
Beautiful! A wonderful concept come to life for homeless hermit crabs. Some amazing home designs, I wish Aki would build a home for me
This guy is insane I watched all those videos of him getting stung by the bugs on the pain index I was like in shock the dude is a beast!
Perhaps not the best place for this (was there not some other discussion thread where I had shard some Every Frame a Painting vids?) but anyways. I wouldn't normally share YouTube videos, and especially not random compilations that end up being more clickbaity fodder than anything, but giving this one a pass. It isn't all that informative - but people who are interested in the ratings system currently, it's utter bollocks use and form, should definitely read up on it, and watch the doc on the matter - but anyways, features some real classic films. A lot of excellent genre pics from the 70s and 80s that most people would agree are right up there, so if there is anything covered here that you haven't seen, check it/them out! ... and let's not even get into the discussion of those movies that traumatised us as kids, 'cause that will be a never-ending (if informative) discussion that will surely re-open the nightmare chest.

Fascinating look at the best preserved dino fossil ever! A huge 110 million year Nodosaur specimen was found, perfectly preserved. The photos of this large beast is just stunning! More here... https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2017/06/dinosaur-nodosaur-fossil-discovery/ *Read the National Geographic web article (see the url link above), it's better than the video! Go Canadians!
Lots of live webcams out there, but the Monterey Bay Aquarium is bubble cleaning the deep sea tank. Best seen at full size http://www.ustream.tv/opensea p.s. a lot of the big fish are hiding when the jets are on, but when it's calm, you'll see a large Mola Mola swimming here and there! p.p.s. very nice shorebirds http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/animals-and-experiences/live-web-cams/aviary-cam
Just thinking of vacation plans and geology. Rocks wearing hats? Someone suggested a visit to The Earth Pyramids, in South Tyrol, northern Italy. For hikers, the Hoodoo, or "Tent Rock" landscape is spectacular! Byrce Canyon Natl. Park, here in the USA, is also a wonderful example. Time to take out your hiking boots! http://www.amusingplanet.com/2017/10/the-earth-pyramids-of-south-tyrol.html and more about Hoodoo erosion https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoodoo_(geology)
Not exactly "noteworthy", but just wanted to share this whimsical painting by Michael Sowa. It makes a great computer wallpaper, with Kaiju swimming about in chaos, amid calm (I don't think Mr. Sowa is familiar with Kaiju toys!) http://imghst.co/88/qKafd3TAZS.jpg
You won't believe this video big pharma doesn't want you to know about! Spoiler: Cancer Cure! F*&k cancer. Eff it right up the bunghole with a big heaping hard measure of science.
Some interesting things to come out of the ground in the recent heat wave the British Isles have been experiencing. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44767497
So, I can't remember exactly if I previously shared the story of Vantablack, a really interesting pigment developed by a British company. [The matertial, made of out carbon nanotubes, is notable for absorbing up to 99.965% of radiation in the visible spectrum! That is some black black.] Anyhow, the exclusive artistic rights to its use were secured by artist Anish Kapoor. Why does any of this matter (other than being pretty cool, I mean)? Mini Pizza Fish anyone? (Halieutaea stellata) Weird but cute! I think this would make a great Kaiju toy! https://seawildearth.com/mini-pizza-batfish/ and it looks like they are edible (poor little fishie!) *warning! not for the faint of heart, poor fishie

This is just too good. Via the BBC: Banksy artwork shreds itself after £1m sale at Sotheby's View this post on Instagram Maybe there is a lesson here for some sofubi artists.
I wouldn't be suprised if it was worth 2 million now. While I'm not a fan of his art he does a hell of a lot better marketing then these artists begging for instagram reposts.
For those that still don't get it, this was intentionally planned to be destroyed this way. I cannot be resold (well, I supposed shredded remains could be). He's posted a video now of the event. View this post on Instagram By far my favourite part is how Sotheby's tries so hard to cover this up and brush it off like nothing is happening. The whole art scene {I mean the 'professional' names here} and these auction houses is just so toxic. This will have little if any effect on them, but even so, I appreciate just the minor putting them in their place that this achieved. I also recommend people check out the documentary Sold! It is right up there with Art of the Steal as great insights into the what really happens in the modern art world.
It is mind blowing watching this , knowing it is a realized working machine! I remember watching Animusic and wishing that it could actually be done and There ya go! One of my favorites, but I encourage people to watch the others too (most of them will take you back to the days of 90’s guitar stores) : Thank you for sharing this!
Old article and a longish read, but I'm very interested in automation and the people it's making us into, so I wanted to share here. Children's YouTube has a problem: https://medium.com/@jamesbridle/something-is-wrong-on-the-internet-c39c471271d2
