Congrats Mark! I couldn't believe my eyeballs when they all appeared MIB! Love the header cards too! Glad I didn't bid against you, and the are going to a good home. That King is exceptional, and so shiny! Horns are in great condition too! BTW, the Bullmark standard King is a shelf hog, because of those wings!

I was so close to bidding on those dinos too even though I already have them. Love the header art. You definitely scored with those prices.

Forgot to post this one from a bit ago, Marusan mid-size Gyaos sold for 38,500円:

Love the colors on this guy. The neck joint was a bit loose or it probably would have went higher. This would make a great companion for the similar Marusan Gamera that Anthony posted a few months ago:

I don't know if you ever got an answer to this question, but it was available in Hawaii, though I don't if it was a Hawaii exclusive release. I had one in my collection years ago. All of my Bullmarks were bought in the 70s in Hawaii.

I was surprised how the auction ended, I am very ignorant about this particular figure, but I feel it is too much money for a figure that has a broken arm. Maybe it is a very rare piece and really worth every penny, but if someone has more information of this figure, I would appreciate if you could enlighten me on the subject.
    Went for: 5,018,000 yen

It's the very first painted edition and one of the very earliest Ultra Q sofubi figures. Consider a holy grail among Ultra collectors. One sold for over $95K during the Mandarake Zenbu auction a few months back.

Tsuburaya copyright Godzilla keychain sold for ¥72,000:

I really wanted this one, especially with the blue Hawaiian color palette, but the bidding war left me in the dust. You might remember a similar Anguirus keychain from last year, and there is also a Baragon version out there. If anybody comes across another goji, please drop me a line:

I corresponded with the seller towards the beginning of the auction and asked him to confirm the height because it didn't look quite right for a giant size. He said that it was 9 inches, and I let him know that wasn't a giant, it was a standard sized. He explained that he got it in an estate sale and didn't know anything about monster toys, but he found a giant Miclas in another listing and figured it was the same thing.

By the second round of messages, I had already consulted my Beautiful Book of Monsters, realized it was the Hawaii version, and my mouth was beginning to water. He offered to relist it, and I told him it shouldn't matter, with the ulterior motive of me trying to win the damn thing, because those giant-size Miclas reissues are going for next to nothing these days, and I figured there wouldn't be too much action on it.

But I snoozed, so I losed. I went to a movie and totally forgot to monitor the auction towards the end. Let this be a cautionary tale.

He had one or two other vinyls that I wasn't interested in, one was a Pegassa-seijin. He said those were all the monster toys he got from that estate sale.

BTW, I just noticed the title of this thread is for Yahoo auctions, so if there is an eBay thread I will ask the mods to move this.

@Roger - There is an ebay thread, but the title is a bit tricky. ;)

Congrats to whomever bagged the Hawaiian Miclas.

@chimply.kaiju Anthony thank you for the information
@deafmetal Mark It's the same story I have with that two-headed figure from Yonezawa, I've wanted to catch one for a long time but they always end up a bit high and those that are more affordable are always broken from somewhere. On the other hand that keychain is a gem, I like that it has the colors of the Hawaiian Goji.:D

Someone is gonna need a serious insurance rider, added to their homeowner's/renter's insurance for that auction!

Thanks for posting that eyeful Mark! They must have them locked up in a safe every night! I wonder what the cost per toy works out to be, by the ounce. I'm sure it's rocket range!

(and people laugh at US for collecting toys! :D)

Who would of though a bunch of Popy and Bandai Ultra kaiju figures would go so high? I guess I must be sitting on a gold mine!

Thanks for sharing Steve, I imagine that the people who bet in this auction had incentives to bet so high for the Gorilla bootleg that can be seen among all the Popy and Bandai figures, it is in very good condition and it also seems to have the original price in the foot which for me is a plus.

Oh you are absolute right, Roger. That is most definitely what drove the auction. The seller I am sure was thrilled, as they evidently had no idea (and I am sure likely fielded no end of "Can I just buy the gorilla enquiries?", but still that is one pricey auction all the same (to me anyways). The unlicensed gorilla is the nicest shape one I have ever seen, no doubt about it, and who know, maybe Hirota himself finally put some of his investment in honouring his father's sculpt waiting for just the right version. In any case, cool to see, and while I held out some faint hopes I'll confess, it was something I just have to sit back and appreciate from the sidelines at those levels.

PS - if the seller is reading this, I actually would get great joy out of all the excess 'junk' included there, too :)

@Alebrije - What a beauty! I love the pink underspray with the teal colors. Is that cream/white vinyl? I do not believe I have ever seen this version before. I would like to see it all cleaned up and shiny. In fact, I wish it was coming to my home so I could clean it up myself. That's a lovely-looking toy.

Speaking of vintage Marusan, I saw another golden-eyed Mothra end for a low price, but this time due to missing an antenna:

Looked to be in fine shape otherwise:

@deafmetal Mark as you mention after a good wash I imagine that the colors have to stand out more, I'm not very into the figures of Ultraman but this Dodongo would look great in any collection. It's a pity that the golden-eyed Mothra had his antenna cut, I need one of those to fight with the Gojis ...
