strange or rare yahoo auctions post here (after theyre over)

I find it a little odd that Ultra Seven is in four places at the same time.
Edit: This one sold for 18,555 JPY.

 

Maybe Ultra Seven is moving extremely fast like the Flash!

Okozeruge Fisherman from Barom 1, ended at a "low" 42000 JPY. This guy usually goes much higher, I was expecting well over 80000 JPY, because he seems complete (no missing boots). Can any one please tell me if this is the real Bandai vintage figure (the photo of the foot logo, looks ok to me), and if there is anything amiss with him? Still puzzled at the price. Thank you!

Yeah its an original bandai. There arent any repros of this figure. Rainbow made a modern version but it looks much different. As for price sometimes things go cheap at auction. Mandarake on the other hand is always full on retail.

 

@XVivaHateX , Hi Jon, thanks for confirming! I also noticed a lighter orangy yellow color version (like the one shown in the Mandarake link), and a darker version with red over-sprays (the auction version). Do you happen to know anything about these versions? Which came first? Is one a "regular" version, and the other a "special" version? I like the darker red version! Also, are there bootleg versions? I don't recall seeing boot legs, but it would be interesting to see some. Thank you!

 

@Mr. Humphreys No I dont know much about the variants. Ive never seen any bootlegs of the barom one villains. I dont think they were popular enough for bootleggers to bother.

Marusan sofubi Godzilla header 1966
Went for: 53,500 yen
Although the double-stamped Goji is less common it can not be considered as something rare, the fact that it comes with the original header card is what makes it rare.

 

@Alebrije - Roger, I believe you meant "double-stamped" and not "double-headed", hehe. The goji also has some weird mottling on the torso. I wonder if it was from being sealed for decades? It could also be environmental damage, and the toy does seem to have some light wear. From a different auction photo, the tail looks to be a slightly different vinyl color than the rest of the figure, which is mysterious.

Still feeling some post-auction regret for losing this one. The header card is almost pristine.

Ended at 37000 which seems kinda cheap considering how much similar era Star Wars GMFG stamped pieces and vintage Takara sell for.

I like the fact that you see a little white vinyl at the junction of the limbs.

 

Old Bandai transformation ninja storm time thing tag bag mount Soft Vinyl with a sword Soft about 23cm
Went for: 39,500 yen
There are several strange things in this auction, apart from the price; the figure is a bootleg of straight hands, the sword does not correspond to this figure, it´s from the bootleg that is a little bigger and more similar to the Bandai licensed, the header card corresponds to the giant size figures made by Bandai (Giant Majin Sai and giant Ninja Arashi). The figure itself in these conditions with the sword that does not correspond and without the helmet, should not have a price higher than 6,000 ¥ so the person who won this auction actually paid 33,500 ¥ for the header card, even though the art on the header card is something amazing, I still think it's too much money.

 

@Alebrije - I really like that rare Neronga in white vinyl. The going price seems to be consistent on that one. The blue sprays on light color vinyl are just magic, but I might need to settle for the recent Marusan reissue.

@Johnny Black do not worry, the word lost the auction is like the mantra of all those who collect vintage, but suddenly the ideal piece comes to you. I lost like six auctions before I can win my first Ninja Arashi and like twelve or more before I can hit my first Ninja Arashi villain,
@deafmetal Mark those Masudaya wind-ups are amazing, but my favorite part it’s the art on the boxes, I've been tempted to grab one of those but there are so many vintage things that I like that I end up leaving them aside. Lately I have seen several of the gorilla from Mirrorman and theTiger Mask tricycle, the strange thing is that I have seen them with the same seller, but I have my doubts; or some batch was found with some repeated pieces and is taking them out little by little or found a way to reproduce then.

 

@Alebrije - Well said, Roger. I'm curious though -- is there a vintage thread for something like "the one that got away"? I tried searching but the phrase is too generic. Perhaps it's too painful to discuss, but maybe collectively sharing our toughest losses might be cathartic, as long as people are not concerned about competitive wants. Who knows, it might help spread some info around for a future heads-up. Thoughts?

 

It is a very good idea to do the new thread, I do not think there is a thread about it, as you well mention it would be something cathartic for some of us to vent so many frustrations and disappointments after so many auctions, I have some good stories about it.
