Ok first of all never do a wall of text EVER again lol.

Secondly his self made runs are only right around $150 for fully painted pieces. The Gosaura is currently the only blank toy he has made right now that is around $200. Most of the pieces you seem to be targeting that are around $300 dollars and up are collaboration/ one off pieces for that particular price. So MOST of the time iv just been buying the runs he does himself that are painted because they are more within the reasonable price range. Don't twist the prices around on his toys to make it look like hes selling stuff higher than what it is. His large toys are quite affordable compared to a lot of the other newer Chinese artist currently on the market for custom toy making.

Might I add... The reimagining of "characters" without official concent is and has been a part of traditional Japanese made figures which are widely accepted here :Yabanjin by Siccaluna.

It's expensive, it's awesome, it's Japanese and even the most hardcore of you respect Siccaluna-kuobo.

I will say the "reimagining" of characters is happening to more and more recent creations, being understandably mire controversial.

No-one not even me is trying to boast these figures originality, put a fork in it.

I actually don't really care for the Yabanjin, but that's a whole different story.

And isn't it sort of a worrying trend that more toys are reimaginings and not actual original designs these days? :?

Ah well, I don't want to get into any drama here, especially over toys I don't collect or even would want to collect. They're just not my thing.

Please no worries, no drama. I actually disagree though.

I think it would be pretty easy to make a case that current trends are leaning more toward lots of new original sofubi, kaiju, designer, whatever cool toys.
This is a newer trend which is obviously getting bigger and bigger all the time, with people like Rich and PK spewing badass original characters like wildfire.

Now on the other hand most older companies like Gargamel, Siccaluna, and yes even Hirota S. Derived so many of their toys\characters from existing images and stories/films from 60s-70s Japanese shows, children's picture books etc.

Check out this new PlanetX figure concept, I totally had that little plastic guy as a kid!
D&D is famous for "borrowing" characters...

(Pic and quote from official PlanetXasia instagram)
"This is the odd little plastic 'prehistoric' creature from 70s Hong Kong that later became Dungeons and Dragons' monster 'Bulette'
PLANET-X is bringing this Hong Kong-born monsters back in the form of 10-inch soft vinyl collectible figures with breathtaking details. Please stay tuned for more updates"
    And a teaser

That is cool they are making that, as odd as it seems I know a Japanese guy who also sculpted that same vintage creature just last year, but don't think he will ever produce it as a doll.

I have collected Hong Kong plastic monsters since the early 1970's, there are so many that would be neat to see remade by various modern monster makers, regardless of who, whom or whatever.

    MONSTERS!

Was i getting personal? was I spreading misinformation? where? Am i in the wrong or do your arguments barely have a leg to stand on?

You made a really cool figure that i hope to own for my collection someday, from that really cool Albany story, even dubbing your toys yokaiamericana obviously a nod to the famous Japanese Yokai. That's all genius imo, I'm a fan. I see planetX as doing the same thing essentially.

I see some of PlanetX's toys as great Homages re-invisioned, of things I've loved since childhood. I dont really understand the need to hate, call out rip-off! and accuse people i dont know at all of being greedy.

Do you really think hes even made more than hes spent! lol

The spoiler is a response to the questions @topher asked me. Feel free to skip it if you don't want to read it.
Chris, I haven't been arguing about anything. I only spoke up about you "getting personal" and "spreading misinformation" to (1) ask you to stop, and (2) to bring it to your attention since you were acting out of emotion in being defensive and perhaps not realizing how you were acting. But to answer your question, re-read my previous posts, and while you're at it, maybe check out your posts thru the previous few pages before I brought anything up.

I suppose what I should have done is sent it in a pm, or since I apparently can't get my points across, just waited til it kept escalating and mods stepped in, which would probably result in a locked thread. I know you're probably going to think this is a threat, but it's not; just ask any mod the #1 reason threads get locked.

And I don't need to have the last word, man, but if you really want to let this go , please don't post anymore questions challenging me to explain myself. If my previous posts didn't make sense to you , I can't imagine any other way I try to phrase it will. It's become exhausting and I don't really care anymore. There's no horse left to beat, ya know?

Thanks, I really appreciate the kind words and that you read & dig the folklore I wrote as well as know the history behind her , BUUUUT it blows my gall dang mind that you think I have done the same thing as PxA...

Using an old "chinasaur" design that was "borrowed" by Dungeons & Dragons and taking it back decades later to make a soft vinyl figure out of it in China is pretty damn cool. The hyper realistic style really works well on this thing. I would have loved this thing in a small size like the original version instead of 10 inches long but if they do a blank in the original brownish color I might pick one up anyway.

Looks like the jaw and top of head are 2 parts....... That would be cool if it can open it's mouth, depending on how the joint is done.

Funny, that was my first exact thought when I saw this guy too, looking at the head.* Interesting to see the Chinosaur connection, and not the first time one of them has been used for toy inspiration. I think we might have even discussed on one of the threads here before the whole DnD-Chinosaur connection. I don't think the mouth is jointed though John, though that would indeed be a cool feature if handled correctly. I mean, I like it, not something I would necessarily buy for my collection, but if this goes anywhere near the other releases, as opposed to say the Marmit route, it'll be a pass without question.

    * and 1000 bonus no-points to you, good sir, for that reference
