Cool photo. I mashed-up my guys once upon a time... and then I decided I wanted them back in their original configurations. That part wasn't as much fun.
So sweet! They look great with those old toasters. After years of wanting one, I finally landed a Gacha Mecha just recently -- The clear with chrome guts version. I'd assume that everyone else's is a bit yellowed too? Yellowed clear vinyl doesn't necessarily bother me, I am just curious.
Thanks! Those are 8-track players. Yes. I have five different clear gacha mechas and they are all yellow. Something must be up with the vinyl they used for these guys. Mine have been stored in a box with zero sunlight for most of their life so it's not exposure to light that caused it.
It's weird because the clear purple, and smoke versions are perfectly fine. Greasy is the worst, I have 1 or 2 of those too
I wish I could get my hands on more of these guys. I find the same extreme yellowing with the clear buta thrashman, must be the same vinyl
Here are some older pics of my gachas from 3 years ago. I've gotten 2-3 more since this picture, but haven't seen any that I need pop up in about 2 years. I think I'm missing between 3 and 5 of them but really don't know for sure. Here's a few of the old gacha mecha/roid/dos threads. I wish some of the old pictures were still there.: http://www.skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/gachamecha-question.28974/ http://skullbrain.org/bb/index.php?threads/gacha-mecha.7779/
I only had one of these, the box it came in looked like it was from 25 years from now Did they all have that type package?
unearthing this thread because i had never seen this color with these arm pieces. i've only seen it with the plug arm piece. anyone know the story? Thanks for any info you can share.
Wow, that's awesome. Mine came with 1 plug attachment. I think I remember someone telling me a lot of the older versions, yellow, white, black and glow were kinda like test pulls or really small runs. I've seen variations, like 1 black 1 had bright purple inserts but most are all black. Not much help, but a cool find.
So here is what I remember: - Black Gachadokuro, yellow Gacharoid and clear purple Gachados came from the 2006 LB. At least one of the black Dokuro had a purple inner part (we assumed it was from the LB, anyhow), most did not have arm parts. Most of the yellow Roids had a plug arm part. Most of the clear purple Dos had no arm parts. - There was also a clear Gachadokuro with chrome red inner parts in the 2006 LB. One of the members here had it, but I have never seen another. - Not sure about all-white or all-GID. If I have seen them, it was only in old photos from Gargamel. - Even among the regular releases of the Gachamecha, I have seen variations in the arm parts included. So, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Gachamecha from the 2006 LBs were test shots (we know that there were test shots of other figures in those bags) given how few have turned up over the years.
Thank you for those insights, fellas. I didn't realize Gargamel included test pulls and what not. I miss the lucky bags they used to do back in the day. Really talented guys. I'm glad they still make custom work these days. There's something rattling around this thing that sounds like it might be worth taking a look at. i'll post a pic if it's anything interesting. Edit: Dayum! Man oh man, did i find the Gacharoid. Not just a variation--but complete!
Superb pic. I searched for one of these bots for years but never managed one. Always a treat seeing them photographed. <3
Here are a lot of my older versions. You can see how much their older clear vinyl has yellowed and needs to be cleaned regularly as it gets a bit sticky. A lot of these were yellow by the time I got them. But you can also see they've yellowed more since my 2016 picture. I was collecting these pretty heavily around 2013-2015. You could find them occasionally for $25-40 back then, mostly on yja and manda. Some of the early clear versions came with guns, I think this was before arm attachments were added. The chrome held up pretty well on these compared to other chrome plating from the same time. Maybe because it's an insert. clear purple, yellow, clear with white, black clear with silver chrome, clear with green chrome, clear with grey micro glitter, all clear
