That's just like, your opinion, man. There are quite a few characters I would love to see get a giant size treatment. I often wonder what might have been, had Toygraph taken on some more guys for original sculpts. Just imagine a giant Kong or MG to stand alongside their Gamera! I wonder what the limiting factor was, as for even a small company, he got licensing (for other toys) for Toho, Daiei, and Tsuburaya guys. Maybe just a production costs thing.
^ Agreed 100% I significantly prefer the standard to the goofy Mickey-Mouse-esque smile of the giant sized vintage one. Plus there are already reissues of the vintage one - by B-Club: http://www.clubtokyo.org/listings/itemListingRpt.php?catID=1&subCatID=116&contentID=465 (BTW - I really need to get the 450 Neronga/Pagos pair - those are among my favorite Bullmarks!)
I'm looking forward to the new 450 Baragon. I love the Bullmark Giant also, they should re-scale that down to 450 just for the fun of it. Marusan. Love the gold and black rubs. Normally I am not in to that on other figures. But it works well for this character.
Look what came in the mail today for me, Marusan 450 Baragon! I love the new 450. But some critic on the ears. The proportion of the ears to the head seem slightly off. They are smaller than I think they should be. It they had lengthen the ears quarter inch and widen it a little more it would be perfect. But overall still an excellent figure to get. Not sure where my standard Barry is, so Angy filling in for size comparison. 450 is approximately a little over 12 inches in height.
Odd...the ears are definitely smaller than they should be. Wonder if that was due to molding issues??? Still awesome.
Trying out the new glitter background cloth I bought. Not sure if I like it. *Also Marusan is now making the 450 Baragon blank black sofuvi for open pre-order sales. Release will be in September. Retail price is 12,000 yen (12,960 taxed). Online shops that sell international are pricing it with discount closer to the 10,000 yen + S&H.
I wonder if the new Marusan Giant Baragon is smaller because they used a original Bullmark Giant Baragon toy to make a new mold? Usually that makes a slightly smaller version.
The Marusan 450 body is newly sculpted. Marusan did not use the Giant Bullmark body. New event exclusive: Marusan 350 Ultraman Fujiyama (Mt Fuji) blue color version. Price 7560 yen (tax included)
That is interesting. I think I would be more tempted to snag a new 450 Ultra at this point, but I do love the idea of having a Fuji blue version. It is kind of metallic though, which isn't really my thing; I would prefer a more flat finish, but it is a nice colour. I also like the contrast on what seems like a lighter vinyl, very light grey, almost white (if not white). I think I might have given him a magenta gem, just for a little contrast, but that is such a small thing. A very cool toy, if not one I need to pick up right away, it'll be on the radar. He would make a nice addition to any Ultraman or Marusan collection. EDIT: I just saw that there is indeed a 450 version of this fellow too. And, from the photos, the actual toy seems to be more of a flat, darker blue. Dang, I shouldn't have opened my mouth to tempt fate, you know how mischievous those toy gods are!
First painted 450. Lousy photo. The Baragon that looks white is actually a very light flesh color. These were lucky bag released Jan 2017 for Super Fest. To my understanding Marusan will be offering these lucky bags again next month. Photo was from ArtStorm when they advertised the SF exclusives.
Marusan Classic Godzilla 450 Shōwa period version: Love the colors on this one: I really like how the Marusan 450 series kaijū are turning out. I am enjoying them more than the previous giant series. They are a really fun size and weight in hand:
That blue with silver highlight spray job makes me want a metallic blue and silver spandex body suit. Is that weird at all?
@MisterYuck - Not weird at all. It would make for a killer bobsled team uniform. @SPACED - I have not seen a blue series, but the spray colors look to be a tribute to the original Marusan Godzilla: silver and blue sprays on blue/green vinyl. The vinyl color also matches my some of my vintage figures quite well. Here is another Marusan Classic Godzilla 450 from Super Festival 70: flesh vinyl with a tribute spray of the 70's Bullmark Hawaii Godzilla: More unpainted 450 size figures are surfacing as well:
Definitely for that blue and pink. I keep coming back to thos thread looking at that blue. Really, really, nice.
^^^ wonderful toy, setup, and photo! Love the toppling antenna towers! I can see you really have fun with your toys! How about a line up of vintage vs. remakes? Your Godzilla collection is very nice
