I am completely down, I will take some of all of them. How to pick which though, now that is is conundrum. I'd have to go for one of every plate I think. Best thing is the tote bag, because then I don't have to decide; I can have all the characters!
That'll make a statement in you living room! Is there an Ultraman episode on youtube with M1go big lips, alien zarab (could only find a 38 sec clip), and Twintail? Inquiring eyes wanna know!
Group mug order! I'm in if we actually do this! In for an Ultraseven and Pigumon mug and a couple Washi tape rolls.
M1号 - Ultra Q, episode 10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQ3jTbV6d_o ザラブ星人 - Ultraman, episode 18: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z-JSqOC31VE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUmnvKgMpE4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jteYNoEAyg (or you could go the Hulu route.) and Z's brief cameo from episode 33: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKsKdPOxQxU My breath remains held for a Giant Fuji doll from Buta. The world is ready. ツインテール - Return of Ultraman, episode 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik2zbgpA-Wk Twintail is also in episode 6, but you're on your own! So... what's going on here? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWnfTOzAhiI
Oh very cool!!! THANK YOU Deevis! Those are really fun videos. I like the Alien Zarab the best, but instead of being a baddie, he looks like a creature who would be content with seed cake and suet (he looks like some weird distorted bipedal bird! ) Makes me want to pull out my buta figures and play with them all (except I'm at work right now! ) . Many thankies DEEVIS! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quAzHsByPGI
Well, it's not like either series has ever really went away, which that article makes absolutely no mention of. Whatsoever. While new iterations of the shows are interesting and quirky to consider, I just really don't think they have ever matched (for me) the earlier versions. Also, since this is seemingly made for the Japanese market, I am kind of surprised at even the attempt of portraying these as cult type shows. But anyways, more kaiju inspired content, so I won't complain.
I don't disagree with anything you had to say up there, Steve, but I'm pretty sure that you need a nap. Grab a pillow and a favorite paperback; meet us back here in a few hours.
This is Skullbrain though. If you are reading the site while operating in any kind of rested state, I might have to argue you are doing it wrong.
Oh man they have fucking cereal bowls as well? Imagine pounding the most addictive sugar laden cereal you can eat in one of those? Hell I want a mug and a bowl!
Looks like dear Keronia is giving Ultra a chiropractic adjustment there! Hey! What happened to all the pics and youtube embeds? Mozilla is showing a lot of blanks today for some reason Just say no to the undies. I would love to have a Booska plate though (and Vombie needs at least one to complete his collection). The stickie pads are nice too!
I bought these neato plates a couple of months ago ... for my 4 year old.. ..I didn't know much about them at the time aside from the awesome meter was maxed out
That's fantastic Scott! Great purchase. So maybe you can answer a few questions on them. How does the quality from you judgement, e.g. are they something that would hold up to regular use? I wasn't sure if this was a really good print, or just a label/coating that had been incorporated into the surface. I do love melamine ware, so I could easily see myself wanting to use them, but then, they look so lovely I can see holding on to them for display too. Heck, maybe a set for each! (if, of course, money and storage wasn't an issue). Anyhow, great stuff man, you are like me, impossible to pick a favourite among them.
Look away now if you are sensitive or faint of heart. Time for some of the most possibly non-Ultra things you have ever seen [and wish to unsee]. And no, sadly, this is not a case of Zarab in diguise. Apparently a Chinese film production company is promoting a new feature entitled Dragon Force: So Long Ultraman. I... just don't even know.... I mean, setting aside the fact that this is clearly, and without any question ripping off one of the most established and recognised characters in Japan, and then using it completely without license, AND using the very name of said property in your movie title, just ignoring all that for one moment, take a look at some of these characterisations, and tell me you don't feel a little sick coming up in your throat. This, and I don't even want to know what is going here (or with his crotch), Oh no, I've never seen Ultraman do this pose, And what is with that terrible elongated face? Do they really think this is going to pass as some kind of bootleg? {thumbs down emoji} Or that no one will notice? There is also a YouTube video that apparently steal some scenes directly from the various shows, but it's set to private and I honestly can't be bothered to view that anyhow. Understandably Tsuburaya Productions is none too happy, and I fully support them in getting this entire endeavour quashed completely, and financial restitution paid to the point where it bankrupts those responsible for this. And if none of that gets your blood boiling because maybe you just aren't a over-the-top Ultraman fanatic - not that such things exits - at least I'd like to think anyone with sense of decency would be turned off by these atrocious 'animations.' There, I had to see it, now you all did too. [c/o]
Another really interesting but random find I happened to stumble across in my geek-fueled Ultra-love rabbit-hole digging. These two great banner images feature a massive battle invasion of the kaiju from Ultraman/Seven and Ace/Taro. I would love to get a hold of high res versions of these or the posters to scan which they probably came from. They would make some great headers for that toyline I will never produce.
Missed this the first time around. The most remarkable part, to me, and I didn't notice until I clicked through to the article, is that the 'hero' here... ...is just wearing bike shorts and body paint from the neck down!
Well, perhaps in what was inevitable news, I nevertheless am unbelievably excited to see this day [will] finally arrive. Yes, fans, please join me in rejoicing: the Ultra series will be released on DVD and Blu-ray [....in the US]. All of them. That is pretty fantastic to learn! With Chaiyo finally out of the picture, it is looking like the licenses for the Tsuburaya properties have finally been cleared and we will get access to the beloved shows we've had to rely for so long only on crappy bootlegs for. The sort of cloud holding this silver lining is that the release company is Mill Creek, which has been known for quite a few 'miss' releases in terms of the DVDs, I've lamented here on in the past. Let's hope though, with actually doing a Blu-ray version, that they are actually going back to some higher quality source material for the video, and actually getting the proper dubs and subs to accompany this. Really, the last thing (well, second last I suppose, next to have nothing) I would want to see is these shows to be released to the Western market - after all of this time - in a really shoddy format. Even the BCI Eclipse versions (still the best available) were basically glorified bootlegs. If they restore the parts that were cut for timing, etc., wow, would we be in for a treat. Honestly, I really can't say how excited I am for this. I don't care if it is silly. And, despite the fact it may seem totally archaic and old fashioned of me in 2019, I am very much over the moon to be able to purchase a physical copy of my favourite Ultra shows. Now I just need to cross my fingers I will be able to watch these somehow in my region. Just to be clear, this new licension deal with Mill Creek covers everything from Ultra-Q all the way up to current modern-era shows. That is Over 1100 episodes and 20 films spanning 50 years of Tsuburaya Productions. More information on the specifics can be found in this article from Sci-fi Japan: Mill Creek Entertainment Acquires the ULTRAMAN Library For Physical and Digital Home Entertainment Distribution Across North America The releases are kicking off with Ultraman and Ultra Q, and are apparently already up for pre-order. Steelbook versions: Regular release: I was actually h/t'ed to these through a random ebay listing for dodgy versions of the sets, so please, take care to support the effort and watch out/order genuine copies. Anyways, in short, woo-hooo!!!
Ooh! Looks really promising! I really want "the return of" set if it will be region free. (which I doubt.) I suppose they will have the Japanese masters and/or extras available for them? Can't wait!
