Are people seriously into these 3D sculpts? Every one is lacking more charm than the last…this Garamon basically copies existing vintage figures, then ruins them with computerized symmetry…

I don’t know about loving every minute of it, but I think some of the AA stuff is good in small doses. I would love to see a collection of the licensed offerings to see how it comes together. I do like the older vibe of AA more though, and the new direction doesn’t feel like an improvement to me.

"Destroy All Monsters" or Total Attack Anraku Godzilla Medicom Lottery unboxing video from 2021 by "Aoki Kazlow Hobby Room"(?).

He goes into some details about what he likes, the eyebrows, the belly shape and head size.
I also like skin/scale details and the knee joint texture and color. That clear, contrasty foot stamp!
Auto-translate comes up with the phrase "Total Attack at 5 o'clock" as the name of the variant?!
I don't know enough to figure out what that should be.

Not so sure about this one. :?

When I saw the silhouette teaser a while back I thought it might be Minira. I guess it's nice to see something original for a change, just not really digging it. The digital brushwork really bleeds through here.

Where'd you see this? What's the story of it? Seems pretty random.

Their names translate to "Jacolantern" and "Pumpkin Kid." Best information I could find was this sofvi.tokyo article which doesn't say much other than it's a new original monster. They're tied to Medicom so they should have close contact to AA if they wanted to provide more details. I couldn't find anything better on his personal blog, though it is a bit difficult to navigate so I could have missed something.

Yeah, those leaves on the head are what make them tomato-like. Pumpkins don't have those. Wonder why they did that.

Anraku design is getting more and more unrecognizable with each release, but that's just a personal opinion...

It's almost like Kitsch. To go from the Guerilla punch and mesukarugon to this is rather shocking.

It really is a love it or hate it thing. My wife, generally doesn't give a shit about any of this, loves the thing. But she loves weird kitch stuff

I really quite like it, the smaller proportioned, but identical looking head on the omake seems incredibly lazy though. I would of thought the instinct of a professional toy maker would be to add personality to the accompanying toy. Make at least a token difference between the two heads, but nope! Is digital rendering in 3D that much work they couldn't be bothered?

For me digital symmetry really drains the life out of most toys, especially with organic textures .It's like half a sculpt.

3D modeling can be both simple and complex depending on your methods and execution. The virtually identical scaled down noggin on the kid was a real lack of effort. Besides it being lazy, design wise it just doesn't seem very well thought out. I think it is safe to assume we're looking at the same creature as an infant. I find it boring and silly to imagine its head will only mature by increasing in size while maintaining all other features and proportions.

All that said the adult is growing on me a little bit.

The little one would make a great Ketchup squeezy bottle.

I'm not sure if any influence was drawn from it or if it's just a coincidence but I saw this today and found a striking resemblance in the little jack-o-lantern on the box.

One more for the bin. Any argument for the upsides of digital sculpting are provided with solid counter arguments in this thing. Blech….
