Tried it, bailed after 10 min or so, wondering a bit if I should have stuck with it. Glad to hear I made the right choice.

Army of the Dead was super fun. But...
    What was with the UFOs?

It was fun and awful and I enjoyed it quite a bit!

The military guys in the beginning were leaving area 51 so UFOs make sense. And the "baby" looked totally alien with it's blue skin and glowing blue blood. The main zombie guy had a blue brain too and for some reason a few of the zombies had blue eyes and metal bones like robots under their skin for some reason I don't understand. I am guessing the original "zombie" was alien based somehow.

I thought I was imagining things when I saw that robot zombie's head blown off in slow motion, but I ran it back this morning and sure enough, that's what it is. So weird.

I also felt they did a good job with splicing in Tig Notaro. You'll notice they cut away from characters who use the erased character's first name and gender so they could use alternate audio that was recorded later.

Anyone watch the netflix movie, "I care a lot"? Maybe one of the better movies I've seen in a while. Fun watch if youre looking for something.

Bo Burnham’s return to comedy with his newest special “Inside” is amazing. Very funny, pretty severely depressing at times, but incredibly introspective. His original musical presentation is brilliant and unique, in my opinion.

I recently watched Druk (Another Round in English). It's one of my favorite movie this year. It handles serious subjects (depression, alcoholism) without preaching anything, characters aren't caricatures of themselves AND it is funny, heartfelt got great actors and i got to listen to something else than American English.

Army of the Dead: I didn't hate it, but if it's indicative of Zack Snyder's movie-making abilities, I don't get all the buzz surrounding him. It was the typical Hollywood blockbuster, but it didn't seem to know what exactly it was trying to be. Started off thinking it might be Zombieland, but somewhere along the way turned into a Michael Bay flick, with Fast & Furious -level dialog.

@gatiio The missus and I just finished the tenth episode last night! The amount of times I literally jolted to the edge of my seat was countless! Acting(especially), visuals, cinematography, character development, storyline…everything. Gah, it was such an amazing ride. I sincerely hope there’s a season two coming!

I ended up watching the first 4 eps of Singular Point last night and I’ve been enjoying it. Definitely a step up from the 3 previous Godzilla movies Netflix did which I just couldn’t get into.

^^^ Yup! Anticipated more after the Justice League rehash but I guess the bar on that project was pretty low.

Zach Snyder has a knack for making bad movies that somehow get lots of rabid fans.

Though I enjoyed the new justice league. I liked army of the dead too but I can also say without a doubt that it wasn't a good movie.

That's the thing - I can enjoy bad movies. I kinda enjoyed Army of the Dead. But from my (limited) experience, Zack Snyder is no better than any other big-budget Hollywood hack.
But bad movies have their place. With temperatures set to hit triple digits for the next few days the wife and I are currently scouring our streaming services for bad movies to watch while hunkered up in the house with the blinds drawn in an attempt to stave off the heat.

I just watched the 1st ep last night, and it seems promising. Very SSSS.Gridman feel. I do like the new Jet Jaguar design given the context (without giving anything away).

Agree re: prior Netflix Godzilla movies. They leaned in to that 'space opera' angle a little too much. I also could never get over the dead-eyed CG anime that thankfully seems to be dying down.

Totally agree. Snyder isn't good. He's average but with enough luck to get involved with franchise movies that people will love because of the source material rather than the movies themselves. Which aren't good.

I've dealt with ridiculous heat before and the most useful hack I've ever used is keeping the place sealed most of the day until eventually it is hotter inside than it is outside. Once it's hot inside you place fans as high as you can(because hot air rises)by the door(if you have a screen door)or by windows facing outside. It sucks the hot air out really well. Give it an hour or so and all the hot air will be gone and it should be as cool inside as it is outside. It works much better if you get two fans going in two different rooms both facing outside. Using a fan to blow hot air on you is pretty useless.

In my book, the only thing of that genre, maybe of the last 10 years, really worth watching. A couple of clunky episodes (it had that nighclub arms dealer warehouse setpiece, right?), but it did so much, without a lot of clutter.

That bit didn't bother me too much but I know what you mean. The only episode that I wasn't keen on was when they find the school with the lord of the flies style kids that are running rings round them.

Overall I liked how tight it was and how they capture the chaos and lawlessness. Survival horror done right. The odd length episodes was weird but it didn't ruin my enjoyment.
