Thanks, @Mr Fox! Kinda gave ‘em an ol’ silent movie vibe to me! Very happy with how these worked out!
@rattanicus Thank you, Rei! They both fit the mysticism motif nicely, and I’m happy with what I was able to pull off!
The minis are so damn perfectly translated you pretty much wouldn’t know whether it was the full size or mini without scale or perspective.
In a second, new character collaboration with Blue Hip Studio, Headlock presents us with a return to the Tibeo form factor of another feline quadruped, Yoshio. I get major, major Halloween vibes from this scaredy cat, with the traditional rendering of an arched back cat, raised tufts of fur, hissing into foggy moonlight. Sincerely hoping to see a black/white or a black/orange version. Bein’ this one here looks reminiscent of Sonic the Hedgehog, it’d be cool to see an accompanying Tails version(my bias for this stemming for my cat King donning the same colors). The heavily pointy texture are very interesting, but are the defining factor to the scaredy cat vibe. The tail is articulated this time, which I’m very appreciative of, and wished the same had been done with Tibeo(though the joint seems like it’d be too small to make the extra effort). Great expression, wonderful colors. I hope we continue to see much, much more Yoshio. Spoiler
Original Bangcyo Wonderful Man. One of three characters designed by Wonderful Design Works and produced by Headlock Studio. Just recently Ken held an exhibition at The Little Hut Co. in Taiwan where he re - released the original trio of Wonderful Man figures in black and white. Spoiler The re - produced trio. In order: Ziro, Bangcyo and Subro.
Not had any joy scoring and actual toys yet but did get these today. I love em. Think I’m gonna grab a little cactus for the Franky to pop on my work desk.
Bob, we had the same mail day. As much as I dislike artificial plants, I am going to grab a succulent style to pop in my Franky head
@xSuicide Squadx great pick up - glad to see you adding one of these big boys to the collection! What's the logo on the back? Don't know I've seen this colorway before.
@Kerk1 Thank you, Kerk! Excited to have one of the large size myself! This particular version was from a Playlounge exclusive in London, I believe, in 2003!
I can’t believe he sculpted that, but, like, I can totally believe he sculpted that. Geez, when he first posted this it took me a second to comprehend how amazingly well done it is. I can only dream of this being produced as a standard HLS figure in vinyl!
Yeah, that Alien is fucking amazing. Other little antenna dude is quirky and awesome as hell as well. I imagine black blank or the marbled blank as a first release...? it’s such a perfectly executed sculptural translation into the HLS style. Pure genius.
He glosses the living hell out of his resin statues like that, as well as the minis that he puts in the die cast hot rod cars. It’d be the surprise of 2021 if this was already in vinyl, though. Especially with that paint job.
Nothin’ major, but just a couple fun updates in case no one’s seen. Firstly, Nagoya based hip hop bad boy G.Cue got his final production made into the Kustom Monster family. Looks just like him. I’m really appreciating Ken’s level of commitment to detail with his tattoos, fade and signature hand symbol. A bit more interesting news is the Hong Kong Calling show coming up in...well, Hong Kong. Straight from Knuckle’s stories he will be bringing out some hand painted custom Kustom Monsters, and they look pretty insane from the teasers.
@C E One can only dream, but I don’t know if my anxiety could handle that. Nor do I think there’d ever be a reason Ken would ever wanna do that! Can’t say I’d be adverse to the idea, though!
Justin Ishmael has been teasing his licensed release of Great Garloo with Headlock the last week or so. “Soon” is a defining trait of these teases, and I’m eager to see a full reveal.
Oooh... I'm very eager for news on this one, as well. Where have the teases been posted, Robert? I'm not seeing them on Justin's IG... were they in his Stories, and now gone?
