@Alebreje a HUGE congrats on the Leafman adoption! Absolutely gorgeous! What I love best is that when you stand him up on a shelf or table and look at him, his eyes seem to spookily follow you everywhere, as you walk around him! ***P.S. Can you please tell me how you determined that the sword was fake? Just curious. I also adopted a Leafman without sword, but had an expert cast one and paint it. As you say, still nice to have
Thank you very much Grace for your kind words. Regarding the sword; the seller photos were not of the best quality as is often the case in YJP, the original sword blade is wider and this one looked thinner but I thought it could be the angle of the photo, the original sword like the copies of the original have an engraving in the middle of the blade which I could not see in the photos of the seller and the most important thing is that the few original swords that I have seen in photos are made of a flesh colored vinyl and painted in Silver color, usually due to use, the hand or the sharpest angles of the sword are worn away and you can see the v flesh color vinyl pop up, for all this I already suspected that it was fake, but when I having it in my hands my worst fears were came true. The sword was totally handmade, apparently they made it with some type of epoxy putty and it is very hard in white color which they painted with a brush with silver paint. It was my mistake for not asking for extra photos, because when I request them from my intermediary who is Buyee he never does, I must say that his service is very bad in that regard. I hope it will be helpful for someone who is thinking of buying a figure with accessories and has doubts about the originality of the accessories. Here I attach some photos of the rough sword.
“(Bullmark Leafman), sadly the sword turned out to be a fake” @Alebrije If the end of the sword has a pink bottom, it might be one of the ones @Paulkaiju made. I think those were made over ten years ago? I bought one to complete mine. At least it’s almost a vintage repro. Looks amazing. Nice pick up.
Thanks, I would like to have one of those amazing PK repros, they are so well made that you couldn't even notice they are repros. According to me, this is how the original swords should look. You can see the fleshcolor on the hilt and the tips of the sword.
I never thought I'd come across the one bowling pin I'd want—(or any of them at all, ever)—while sitting on my living room couch looking at the internet, one Sunday night. Then sitting on needles waiting to see if the purchase went through. I intend to try to (really carefully) clean the inside, while avoiding the glue seam. The bottom cap does unscrew, but it looks like the figure is either very difficult or impossible to remove through the opening. Which I think is super charming.
@Roger Good idea, but I don't think I need to. I'll try to clean around it with a flexible aquarium brush. It'd also make me nervous—the arms don't seem like they'd react well to that.
Man, I do too. I keep wanting to go and stare at it. And I'm kicking myself for not having any type of small Takkong, to put inside a hamster ball as a companion piece. I don't want to clutter the thread with more posts — @deafmetal, @djkemp, @XVivaHateX — thank you Also, just putting it out there. I've never bowled in my life. I refuse
@djkemp jaw dropping stuff! I've never seen the inflatable — I take it that's the TAC Falcon? Wow. Congrats! Edit: If my upside-down translating guesses are right…TAC Space?
@old_seaweed Yeah i think TAC Space is correct, I wasn't actually sure what it was when i brought it. I won a lot for a mini Bullmark I wanted and it was folded up in its original bag, i thought it might be a ball or something similar but was pleasantly surprised. It also came with the Ultraman Ace figure which is meant to have a suction cup on the back for sticking to windows.
Picked this guy up on mandarake after losing a way more expensive one at auction. Very similar condition also. Really nice sculpt I think. Spoiler
@XVivaHateX very cool sculpt! Those thick armor plates give a great texture. Is that a Marusan? What is he from?
thanks yeah hes bullmark from Retrun of Ultraman. Interestingly, they used this light pink vinyl for a bunch of these figures from the line.
@XVivaHateX I think I know the auction you're referring to — I've noticed the weird/inverted scale of Segorath prices on YJA vs. Mandarake before, which is probably not a healthy thing to be be noticing. Glad you picked that up, though — paint condition looks great. The blue crest looks so good!
Nice! I recently got the reissue; I’m in love with the sculpt. Mine doesn’t have one of the side fangs painted, so now I can pretend it’s a nod to this beauty!
I havent gotten vintage mail in forever! Having said that, I finally rescued this guy from the Buyee warehouse. Fedex shipping is really something else. Payed shipping ($9 w/ coupon) on Sunday, shipped following day, received today.
@brobles Amazing, I have like 30 pieces living in Buyee warehouse limbo...I just build up the courage and try fedex, see how that works out.
I think most people are using Flickr or Imgur to host their photos and then embedding them with the img tags (the Image button above). There is a guide for Imgur using a desktop browser here. If you are using a mobile device/app it is slightly different. A silver-striped Rodan joined the family here recently:
@deafmetal It's always nice to see those little differences between figures. I loved the dark blue on the left, it's weird that Bullmark wouldn't have made a Hawaiian version of Rodan.
ive been making purchases less frequently these days, but when the opportunity strikes i have more money available for the right toy. really happy to be able to snag this shinigami chameleon with minimal paint loss
